Bioremediation employs a suite of remediation technologies based on the action of naturally occurring microorganisms which can be stimulated to destroy or detoxify organic and inorganic pollutants in the environment. These microorganisms are present even in highly contaminated environmental matrices and they are able to transform pollutants into innocuous substances.
Bioremediation processes are usually carried out in situ (i.e. without removing the polluted matrix), treating soil superficially or below ground and groundwater. Bioremediation is a relatively low cost technology effective against many of the most widespread environmental contaminants.
SITE SPECIFIC REMEDIATION
The strategy adopted at Biosearch Ambiente relies upon treatability studies, carried out both in the laboratory (microcosm tests) and directly on site (pilot tests), to define the full-scale remediation approach. Each site requires specific solutions to return the environmental matrices to their vital functions.
Biosearch Ambiente is listed in the Italian Register of Environmental Operators – cat. 9. Our track record demonstrates that seriously contaminated soil and groundwater can be effectively decontaminated using a bioremediation approach, with high economic and environmental sustainability.
